1st Entry (May 16, 1999)

Yesterday we caught the train from Mountain View to San Francisco. We thought it would be nice to make it a day out. We decided that we would walk from the Train Station to Pier 39 which is where we wanted to go. Pier 39 is the most visited area there with shops, restaurants, attractions and so forth. Anyway, we walked there, however, we found that it was about a 3 mile walk. Poor Kimmie and Marcus were so wore out. Finally we made it there. We were all so tired all we wanted to do was sit down, so we decided to get something to eat first. We saw a restaurant called "Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory", it's a really popular restuarant here in the Northern California area that is basically set up after the movie "Forrest Gump". It has all the props from the movie as well as colorful names for their dishes. For instance, Victor had the "Bucket of Boat Trash", which comes in a aluminum old fashioned bucket, it has fries, crawfish, shrimp, and catfish in it. Barbara and Janay had the "Catfish and Chips", which is Catfish and fries. We enjoyed ourselves, and ate like pigs. Afterwards, it was so late that we just walked around for a while and then went to catch the bus back (because we were too tired to walk back). Anyway, catching a bus in San Francisco is not that easy. They don't have everything explained at the bus stop like they do in Europe, you just have to know where you want to go. Anyway, after about 30 minutes of running back and forth, and missing at least two buses, we finally caught the bus that we needed. However, the train back to Mountain View was to leave at 6:00pm and we didn't make it back in time, so we had to wait an hour for the next train. Finally the next train arrived and we were on our way home. The kids were so wiped out that their little heads were bobbing all over the place as they tried to sleep on the train. When we finally got home, they were so beat. Marcus was so tired, all he could do was cry because he didn't know what else to do. All in all, we had a good time but next time we will definately take the bus. Especially since it only costed, $2.35 for all five of us. Well that's just a sample of some of the activities that I will be posting on this page from time to time. So take care, and God bless you all.
